Windsor Chair Making Course - 6 Days

Come and make a chair with us! IN THIS WEEK we will: - Learn about splitting, using and drying green wood. - Windsor chair design, ergonomics and shaping. - Use a variety of hand tools (or very few, it’s up to you), learn about their set up and maintenance. - Learn about steam bending and bend the comb back rest for your chair. - Get familiar with the funky angles and round joinery involved in framing your chair. - Assemble your chair, using historic techniques and adhesives. - Discuss finishing options for your chair. Taught by myself Harry, Alex Skawinski, & Ame Stevenson Open for: Total beginners looking to have a nice time and make a cherished chair. Woodworkers who want to expand their practice and form in new ways. Creatives who want to work with a new medium and anyone else. Alex and I (Harry) have been assisting teaching Windsor chair making at Westonbirt Woodworks for the last few year, unfortunately that workshop has closed, so we are setting up to teach in our own space! We have been slowly gathering kit and preparing how we’d like to teach, this is our first full chair course. Hopefully more to come next year, keep an eye out.
