Is a Japanese term that refers to traditional crafts in Japan. Although these pieces were made far from Japan, before I had been there and with methods & tools not necessarily Japanese- this title was given to this collection of work while I was in Japan, I made these pieces over the 2 years prior to going. I was researching Japanese heritage crafts, aesthetic philosophy & carpentry; while at studying at West Dean College .
