Slab & Stick Chairs
AKA Windsor chairs, the process being as it would have been for last few hundred years or so.
Fresh Ash (mostly) logs are split, shaved with a drawknife, or turned on a treadle lathe, then let to dry. The seat is craved with an adze and travisher from a dry board. The bows are bent with steam. The holes are drilled with a brace and bit. The jointed are trimmed with knives. Assembled dry or with protein adhesives. Finished often in milk paint.
