Service Description
This course is pitched at both the beginner & the professional. We will cover some of the theory behind sharpening, the materials you might need & the hand skills to achieve quick & reliable results. Bring whatever tools you have, ideally at least one flat chisel - this is a great point to start before moving onto more difficult tools. We will cover: - Abrasives, stones & compounds for sharpening - Freehand & guided sharpening methods - Flat bench chisel sharpening - Sharpening, tuning & setting a hand plane (steal & wooden body) - Scraper sharpening - Saw sharpening - Kitchen knives - Axes + what ever you bring along. Sharpening is one of the few things that I feel in person tuition is pretty necessary to get past the frustrating, inconsistent result stage of learning to sharpen. This course is designed to demystify the world of sharpening, in a supportive & accessible way.
